Sources and interesting links
The data compiled on the map is pulled from a large variety of places, and the author has found a lot of fun rabbit holes along the way.
If you enjoyed the map, the below are an interesting set of resources to learn more

- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission This Lists all the officially designated historical sites in Meck.
- 1911 Georeferenced Map of Mecklenburg County This shows many of the townships that existed at the time. Note that a township is different than a City/Town, and was primarily a district concept, with few of the townships having a townhall, or a seperate government.
- Charlotte Mecklenburg Story's Timeline of Charlotte
- Hornets Nest This great book from 1961, now hosted online by the CM library has provided me with a lot of interesting context for the development of Charlotte
- Mecklenburg Historical Register of Deeds: This is a trove of deeds and maps that record who owned what, when. This page starts in 1763, and ends in 1990. Post 1990 records are recorded on this page: Modern Deed Search

- Charlottetown Roads This map Focuses solely on routes from 1808, and was compiled by the Mecklenburg Mapping Congress, who has done work to document the colonial Era of Meck.
- A Plan of Meck and joining Counties(1789) This is an interesting map from the 1700's that shows many landmarks and routes from the day, though it is not quite geographically accurate
